Fulvic Acid Fertilizers on Tomato Yield and Quality

April 01, 2022

Effects of different doses of fulvic acid organic fertilizers on tomato yield and quality.

1. Advantages of fulvic acid fertilizers

Fulvic acid (potassium fulvate) is a water-soluble organic aromatic substance with small molecular weight and high activity in humic acid. Studies have shown that the application of fulvic acid can promote root development and improve root vitality. Reduce crop leaf transpiration rates. Increase plant photosynthetic intensity. Meanwhile, improve the activity of various synthetic enzymes and chlorophyll content in plants. In addition, fulvic acid fertilizers, as an important plant growth regulator. It can promote plant growth and improve yield and quality by inducing carbon and nitrogen metabolism.

At the same time, the combined application of fulvic acid and NPK fertilizers achieved synergistic effects. It can improve soil structure, improve soil fertility and improve fertilizer utilization rate.

2. Test of different doses of potassium fulvic acid

The dosage of fulvic acid fertilizers in the test is divided into 5 levels. Which are the addition amount of fulvic acid in air-dried soil: 0mg/kg (T1), 3mg/kg (T2), 30mg/kg (T3), and 300mg/kg (T4). ) 3000mg/kg (T5).

Seedlings were bred before the experiment. Select plump tomato seeds of the same size and soak them in warm water at 50°C for 2 hours in advance. Then soak the seeds for 22 hours at room temperature. Sow the soaked seeds in the seedling tray, 1 seed per hole. Cultivated in a greenhouse at 28°C. Take the robust and consistent seedlings (two leaves and one heart) and transplant them into pots. Fill each pot with 9 kg of air-dried soil.

Before filling into pots, evenly mix the compound fertilizer with the formula of N:P2O5:K2O=15:15:15 according to the fertilization amount of 12g per pot. At the same time, add the mineral fulvic acid. In addition, rinse the dose with water according to the experimental design.

different dosages of fulvic acid on tomato yield

2.1 Collection of yield and quality related indicators

Made the yield determinations after the first ear of fruit matured in mid-August 2021. Picked once a week on average, recorded the number of fruits and single fruit weight of each plant. Also ended in mid-September. 4 harvests in total. When the fourth ear fruit was harvested. Take the samples to determine the content of organic acid, soluble sugar and Vc in the fruit.

2.2 Effects of different dosages of fulvic acid on tomato quality

As shown in the histogram below. With the increase of the amount of fulvic acid fertilizers. The soluble sugar, sugar-acid ratio and Vc content of tomato. All showed a trend of increasing first and then decreasing. The organic acid content of tomato showed a trend of first decreasing and then increasing.

When the dosage of potassium fulvic acid was 30 mg/kg. Compared with T1, the soluble sugar, sugar acidity and Vc content of tomato were significantly increased by 43.9%, 81.3% and 35.4%. Respectively, and the organic acid content was significantly decreased by 21.8%. Compared with T1, the fulvic acid dosage of 3000 mg/kg had a significant effect on tomato soluble sugar. And the other indicators had no significant effect.

3. Conclusion

Leonardite Fulvic acid fertilizers have a stable effect of increasing yield and quality of crops. In this study. Using the “Jinpeng M6” tomatoes as the material. Meanwhile using the Khumic’s fulvic acid products for pot experiments. To study the effects of different dosages of fulvic acid on the yield and quality of tomato growth.

The results showed that the dosage of fulvic acid at 30 mg/kg could promote the growth of tomato plants at the seedling stage. Increase root volume and surface area. Promote the absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Moreover increase the content of soluble protein. Soluble sugar and glutamine synthase, the indicators of tomato reached the highest value. Then compared with the control (without fulvic acid), the soluble sugar and vitamin C in tomato increased by 43.9% and 35.4%. Respectively, and the tomato yield increased by 28.1%.

When the dosage of fulvic acid was 3000 mg/kg. There was no significant difference in tomato-related indicators between the treatment and the control. Based on the comprehensive material cost and various indicators. The optimal dosage of fulvic acid is 30mg/kg.
